Yesterday, a friend and I attended the Liverpool Literary Festival for a talk with the Liverpool Literary Agency and two of their authors.
It was a very inciteful talk on ‘How to Get a Book Deal With the Liverpool Literary Agency‘ and helped to provide insights on the current market, how their current authors Stephanie Sowden and David Beckler began their writing career and what agents are looking for.

Before I signed up for this talk, I hadn’t realised a literary agency had been set up in Liverpool, which is only 20 minutes away to where I live in the Wirral. For much of my career I’ve worried about how to break into the industry, especially since the majority of agents and publishers live in the south of England.
This was an incredible realisation and I’m so thankful to its owner Clare Coombes for supporting northern writers to break into publishing.
I also got the chance to meet the authors, talk to them about their writing and get books signed.

A very exciting day and I can’t wait for the future of publishing now we’ve got another literary agency in the north of England.
